The Longest 30 Seconds

I almost died a horrible death today.

A big red truck. Cars running at an incredible speed. The tires crunching on slightly gravelly ground instead of the smooth road. A swerve on the left and another to the right… the bumper swinging left and right in a struggle to regain position. The huge wheels turning at an incredible speed looming uncomfortably near.

It was the most horrible 30 seconds. I could almost hear the crunch of metal on metal. I could almost feel the impact of our smaller car getting caught between the wheels of the huge truck and getting dragged before it can finally stop from the speed it was running. It was all but 30 seconds - it felt like a lifetime.
